My snake has mites
I found 1 walking free on my snake, a close inspection found 3 in his scales.
1 I was able to knock off, 2 are in too deep under scales.

I have prevent-a-mite, and revolution(I believe this will not do me any good)
I found them 3 days ago, I have changed paper towel bedding twice since then, with a spray of preventamite. 30 minutes later place my snake back in.

Am I doing the right thing?
I have given the infested snake 2 baths, lightly held the body under the water for a little while(head and top 1/3 free mocing), and the other 2 one bathe.
What else can I do?
My other 2 balls I can not find a single one on them.
They are in the same room, very different cages.
I have cleaned their cages on the same routine as the one who has the mites, spraying their cages too.

What else can I do?

Any helps is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,

I my self have never had a mite problem but I went down to Pro Exotics in Denver and bought a can of BK Black Night Mite spray. I am told that this product works really well. You have to follow the instructions to the letter. It will kill any unwanted mite on site when used properly. I purchased a can because I want to be ready if there is ever an unwanted mite in my racks. It is not too expensive and you can only buy it online.

Good luck,
Bill

Just an FYI...I bought Black Knight from a local reptile store.

Works well, unfortunately I know from experience.

To the OP...sounds like what you're doing is just fine. Just be sure not to handle the two snakes without mites after the one with mites. If possible, handle them first and the infected one last.

Good luck, it's not the end of the world.

Wait. Repeat on a months time. Wait... repeat in another month's time. Then you should not find any more mites on your snakes.

Fed and maintain your snakes normally. If you do a complete cage wash in less than a month, spray the cage again, let dry and put your snake and water bowl back in. Otherwise, just repeat the process once a month for the next couple months. This is to make sure any eggs laid and hatched mites looking to have their first meal on your snakes will be killed before they can get old enough to mate and lay more eggs.
