lafferman Sep 15, 2003 11:40 PM

i have leos and would like to get 2-3 crested geckos but i have already put lots of money into my leo tanks i've read some about using rubbermaid tubs for cresteds since they don't need the high heats. what is the cheapest way to keep 2-3 cresteds? and is it ok to keep them in the tubs? thanks for any and all advice/help.

Yes you can house them in large 15.5 gallon Rubbermaid containers, but only a single crested each. They can be paired together for a few months during the breeding season but if you wish to house 2-3 in a group year round I suggest a 30 gallon glass tank. If you need care info just e-mail me and ill send you a complete guide.

I keep my cresteds in 66 quart sterilite containers. You can easily house pairs in these tubs by creating more surface area. You can accomplish this by adding cage furnishings such as cork bark slabs. I use egg crates that I order from a packaging company. When you crate more surface area you are essentially increasing the size of the tank. Target sells the sterilite tubs. Once and a while they go on sale for $5 each.
good luck,

Costco also carries some equivalent types that I use for mine. They were $5 each.
