Clean-up morphs

medusah Aug 15, 2009 02:24 PM

What do you guys prefer as far as the clean up morphs, we all know what Fire, Desert and Hypos can do when combined for combos.

I am sure the Fire and Desert are preferred by most, I personally love all Hypo combos over the dom/co-dom ones!

Projects take much longer with Hypos BUT I find them more appealing.

What do you guys think?

I may be strange, but Hypos have never appealed to me in the least. I MUCH prefer the Fire combos, then the pastel combos after that. Fire combos seem to brighten all the colors involved, almost to the point of fluorescence. While Hypos, though they DO serve to reduce melanin, also reduce the intensity of everything else, leaving all the colors muted.....

I think the Desert morph needs more time to see how it will affect various other morphs, but I'm pretty excited about its potential.

you can't go wrong adding pastel to anything.

i happen to think they all bring something to the party!!! hypos definitely dress up other morphs, look at honeybees for example. i just picked up a hypo mojave that i think is abolutely gorgeous. fires and pastels definitely dress up other morphs very nicely as well. and the new desert morph is, in my opinion the nicest morph to come along in recent years! i think it's just a matter of preferrence, breeding stock and what combos you cross. some combos are knockouts, some arent.

They do the same thing fires do, but the super form is even better and they don't turn everything white.

I don't agree-I like the black-eyed leucy a LOT better than the super vanilla. And of course, Fires don't turn anything white unless it is a homozygous leucy....

I'd say fire combos look much nicer than vanilla combos, just my opinion.

The question is how many of them have you actually seen? Let's compare them side by side:

fire x mojave and vanilla x mojave. fire mojave slightly lighter than vanilla mojave so fire gets the nod.

fire x pastel and vanilla x pastel. I've seen screamers of both with the first pastel fire produced by Brandon B. stunning, but the average of each combo very similar. I say tie on this one or edge to the fire.

fire x hypo and vanilla x hypo. slight edge on the fire on this one as well.

fire x yb and vanilla x yb. tie on this one.

fire x lesser and fire x vanilla. tie on this one

not sure if the fire x cinny/black pastel has been done so not gonna compare this combo.

vanilla sable is awesome, i'm sure the fire sable will be as well if it hasn't already been done.

the added bonus comes after you get the double co-dom crosses. while some crosses that the fire has produced are better than the vanilla crosses, you cannot get further improvement with the super fire hypo, super fire mojave, super fire pastel, super fire yb, super fire lesser.

With the amazing combo of the vanilla x fire, no collection will be complete without having both of them, imagine the fire x vanilla x pastel, now that is going to be a HOT snake. I know I am adding the fire gene into my collection this year, no waiting around.

Yea I agree the hypo combos are unreal! I don't count hypo as a clean up gene personally. I would say the fire is my favorite cleaner....mmmmmmmm fireflys.

Hopefully we will add my project "sunrise" to those that clean . . . .
