Advice on breaking to frozen mice

snaggle Aug 15, 2009 10:31 PM

Hey y'all,
I just got my first pythons today, a ball and a spotted python. I love them already there is just one issue. The ball is not on frozen/thaw mice. It's not that I'm particularly squeamish about feeding live, it's a convenience thing. Any advice on how to make the switch?
Thanks

Wow,

Thanks for sharing the video. Now I remember why I switched to live feeding (LOL).

Bill

after watching that i feel like i just got off an 8 hour choppy boat ride.

good advice - but the thing i never get is how folks feed live off of tongs... which he did not show. i just cant see grabbing live with tongs successfully, but i've read about it here enough to know that folks do it. i just do'nt know how - behind the scruff of the neck? must take practice to catch them!

What size ball are we talking about? Most will readily take f.t. with little work -- just give it a shot -- make sure you heat it up to where it's warm to the touch but not hot and dangle it in front of your snake and see what it does. It's really not that difficult.
