Gravid sheds?

medyssa Aug 16, 2009 10:13 PM

I have two females that are still gravid but have now shed twice during gestation, is this normal? I thought they normally shed AFTER babies came.

It's common enough for them to shed during gestation. Many won't shed at all but I've had them shed twice during gestation.

Yeah I have had it happen that one had no sheds and then shed the day after birthing and then another shed once during gestation and once about a week after birthing.

The wait now is literally suffocating me.

lol i could only imagine the wait for boa birthing. I know i was going insaine and did not sleep from when python eggs began to pip untill the came out of the egg. 2-3 days wihtought sleep is harsh

Not nearly as bad now that I can somewhat predict the due dates. Before when I had no idea when they were due, it was much much worse.

well dave we cant all see into the furure like you lol jk jk. wasnt it make who first brought the whole number of days at said temp should be your birthing day roughly?

rainbowsrus Aug 17, 2009 03:25 AM

It was Mike who first publically stated the idea that BRB's should be somewhat like BCI where the litter should come a set number of days after the post ovulation shed. But Mikes numbers did not jive with my records. Mine were typically later than expected with Mikes numbers. Then I discovered Mike was gestating a little warmer than I was and that's where the realization that temps have a role on gestational duration came from. Cooler = longer while warmer = shorter.
