When I first developed the Stillwater Hypo line many years ago, half of my hatchlings looked like yours. I never kept any of them so I don't know how they turned out. Any one else out there have similar offspring from stillwaters that they have raised? How did they turn out.

Unfortunately, those definitely look like normals/hets. Here's a recent Stillwater hatchling:

Thanks Brad and Amartim

Thats basically what I figured, however I do have one coming out that is showing hypo,.. so out of 11 snakes, Ive got 1 hypo showing ... good grief ... What about the Red traits?
Neither of the parents were showing either trait but were supposedly het for both ...

Red is not a simple dominant or recessive gene. You will get a mixture of color not one or the other. Depends on how red the parents are to start.

Since red is a line-bred trait, not controlled by any single gene, it is not possible to be "het for red"....

So .. do you think that these guys could start showing more as they mature? When comparing the hatchlings it looks as though some are definitly more red than others ... The hypo that came out is a screamer its almost out of the egg now..

Thanks for all the input

Yes, you'll probably get a range of colors, some will be red to an extent, others won't-color will develop as they grow.

I think this article will help you out. The mode of inheritance for the red is polygenic and of course the hypo would be simple recessive. Hope it helps
