So this NOT so little guy is on the concrete floor intimidating all passers by.

He just sat there all afternoon with some Aspen on his feet while I fed off a garbage can full of rats to the kids.

I live in Minnesota. Does anyone know what this puppy is?

My wife is not happy about this critter...

Don't tread on me!

I believe it is a fem " D. tenebrosus"
the fem gets about an 1" long

According to my spider guide ,they will sit
all spread out like that for hours

Or else Nursery Web Spider .The only few I can find that
look like that but also get that big

That thing is huge !

Hi Jeff,

I get some of them in my house every year too. Even had some bigger than this guy. They are harmless but still creep me out when I see them. I really hate it when they run across my foot from under the couch when I sitting there watching TV late at night. LOL Its the funniest thing you could see, this 270 lbs man jump up really fast. A little spider make me jump and creeps me out but show me a 20 foot snake and I am all over it. LOL

I had this guy in my back yard the other day. I like having these guy around the eat a lot of field mice and little annoying yappy dogs. LOL Just joking about the dogs everyone.

Professor, my snake room has spiders in every corner, i leave them there as they'll catch the occasional fly and i like spiders over flies. i wonder if something snakes give off attract spiders?

Yeah, I'd say snake poop delight, a delicacy for flies, flies a delicacy for spiders. I personally don't care for spiders, but I'll tolerate them!
My ex used to have a mexican red leg tarantula, I didn't mind that one but she also had a really creepy green bottle blue tarantula! That thing would raise up at you, if you put your hand up by its cage! I used to envision that thing getting out and biting me in my sleep! no thanks!

i agree, i figure i'll put up with the occasional spider over a slew of bugs. i gotta get a big tokay and let it loose....
