Cannibal Cream

guyergenetics Aug 20, 2009 08:28 AM

I hope that I don't find this very often. This is a definite first for me:

My Creamscicles are still hatching and I found a partially digested regurgitated Cream in the box. One of the others had to have grabbed and eaten a sibling just as soon as it came out of the egg! I have no idea who the culprit is, but we've got a cannibal Corn!

Wow!,....that IS very uncommon!. I've heard of, and personally seen this happen before, but it usually stems from them not beeing fed for a very long period of time. For this to happen so early on, it is definitely quite a rarity indeed.

Are you sure it isn't part getula?,.....just kidding!..LOL!

Surprised the hell out of me!!

I seperated my Splendida babies as soon as they hatched and then put them back together for the baby pile pics and then seperated them again and started records to safeguard against this kind of thing because I could definitly see THEM doing it!!!

But corns?!?!?

I usually don't seperate the baby corns until they have all hatched and then I pile them up for the mandatory baby pile pics and then I seperate them all and start sexing them and start records...worked fine up until now.

Hell, I had babies sitting in the eggs still and looking at me when I made this discovery.

Yeah..LOL!! you did nothing at all out of the norm. Heck, I do the very same thing that you just described. Just so happens that weird things can(and do)happen with animals!..LOL!

You could submit that to the show.."weird and freaky" on Animal Planet..hahaha!

I guess it's not quite as bad as having it happen to a $1000 dollar animal that was EXTREMELY rare and coveted. But just the same, those are really nice!

Hmmmm...It ddn't smell like a regurged mouse does. You could be right. I don't know. I already tossed the dead one so I can't get a second look. Either way, its a definite first for me.

they should have a good feeding response.

Lol..yeah, I shouldn't have any trouble getting these to eat.

I'm kind of starting to lean towards the half formed dead twin hypothesis on this one though....I had never considered that possibility.

Lastw others myself year I had the same thing happen with my some Prairie Ratsnakes.....I sheck on them and there was half a snake hanging out of the others mouth, I called a few people to see if they have ever had this issue befor....I was told that this happens on occation, becouse there feeding response is so high as hatchlings....Not so sure I agree, but I do know that I saw a snake hanging out of anothers mouth, so it must have been pretty hungary.......Just wish all hachlings had that feeding responce, wouldn't have any non-feeders....lol
