breeding copperheads?

texasviper619 Aug 21, 2009 06:43 AM

Im looking for advice on breeding broad-banded copperheads. Ive got a pair coming soon and I read that they will mate in the fall as well as the spring. If anyone has any experience breeding copperheads, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I know that pictigaster will breed in the fall or spring. My guess is that they will.I bred lats in the mid 80s .I did them like most people I cooled them in november and brought them out in feb.I fed them up then started introduceing the males in mid march .Copulation was confirmed in april and babies born in late aug.to mid sept. They are easy to breed.About like a corn snake.I hope this helps.

I've only had Southerns, but I've never done anything special. I just housed them together and they breed. It didn't matter what time of the year it was, seemed like every time I looked in there they were hooked up.I keep them separated now as I got tired of dealing with neonate copperheads all the time. Take care, Marty
