I was beginning to wonder if she would ever lay. This is her first clutch.

Nice Joe,
How many days after her pre-lay shed did she need?
Great looking animal.
-Dell

Thanks Dell. It was 20 days after shed before she laid these 10 huge eggs.

Both the snake AND the photo. Nice work...

I was thinking the same darn thing - that's an excellent photograph of a great looking snake.
Good luck with those eggs!
Tim

Mike, are you the "Russo" that was at the Portland (Oregon) Reptile Expo yesterday?

Kent
Oops! I forgot to add my agreement to everyone else's: that a beautiful snake!

No, not me... Although, i wish i was there.. or better yet in Daytona!

I have only been to the two Expos here in Portland, Oregon (I live across the Columbia River, in Vancouver, Washington). But they are good. Yesterday I got my first Grey-banded kingsnake, a blairs phase. She is a real beauty, but I am not a great photographer. Sorry its off topic.

Congrats on your first Alterna.. I have a few, trust me when i tell you that they can be VERY addicting!!

Congratulations Joe. Great photo. I've never had a gaigeae go 20 days post shed but they routinely go 12-14 for me. Now you've got to wait 75+ days. Its painful. Congrats again!
Dave
Strange timing, kinda like the weather here this year. Get some practice with these to prepare for next year! Good job!
Joe:
Great pic. My two females had me waiting forever too. One went 19 days with a clutch of 12. All those eggs look great. My other female went 27 days with a clutch of seven. All but one egg in that has gone bad.
As others have posted, black milk eggs tend to take at least 5-10 days longer to hatch than other milk species. But at least they usually eat great on FT after a shed!
Rob

Thanks Dave, Jeff, and Rob.
She was coiled around the eggs for quite some time before I took the picture, and It seems as though she would have stayed around them like a python had I not taken them away.
