Daytona Acquistions.....Pics

Jlassiter Aug 24, 2009 01:28 PM

I would have to say that Deborah and I had the best time ever at the Daytona Expo.....We got away from it all for a couple days....and....we got to meet up with some old friends I haven't stayed as close to as I should......
I also got to meet a few people that I know from here....It is glad to put some names to faces.....Aubrey Ross, Jim Smith, Foxturtle, Brian Hubbs, Doug Mong and Charles Shanklin...and others I can't remember right now....lol

Here's what I got......

Found me an AWESOME Granite Line Female.....Nice Speckled neck and Sidewalls.....
I like how dark her ground color is and the fact that she still has some awesome high saddles.....She should work well into some breeding projects.....

I had to visit an old friend so I headed to Don Shores' table and had to get this girl.......Granite Female....Cool aberrancies in my opinion....

I needed a future male for her so I got this male at a hell of a price.....He isn't granite but from the granite line and LOOK at the RED on his head.....

Another good friend of mine Mark Kenderdine (Crimsonking) was far in the back corner.....I thought he would've been sold out by the time I got there, but I was able to get these two...
A late 08 Classic male.....

And a nice 2008 Female with Split Saddles.....

When I was done getting all the Mex Mex I wanted I decided to check out some thayeri.....They are my favorite ya know.....

Here is the only pair I got from the hundred or so thayeri I looked at......

I do have to give an honorable mention to Mitch Allen....He had some nice REAL reduced black Thayeri from great bloodlines.....I almost got a couple from him, but decided I could produce my own in a few years......I hope.....

Thanks Craig......It took me all of 6 hours....lol
I appreciate your compliments....

I think all I need now is about 8 more snakes to complete my collection and projects....A Couple more Mex Mex... Thayeri...Greeri...A female Knoblochi and an Amel Male Pacific Coast Gopher Snake for a WC female I've had for nearly 4 years now....
I hope I live long enough to see all the projects unfold....
Regards,

I agree Tony.....These are one of my faves....Running a close second behind thayeri...real close second...
I bet they won't be so under appreciated / rated in a couple years or so....

Nice John! Love the ones from CrimsonKing and the male with all the red on his head. But they are all nice, including those thayeri. Good job. And nice meeting you "in person"

John,

It was good to meet you as well (and see Aubrey again-Hello Aubrey)...I remember seeing your "granite" specimens but you must have acquired those thayeri later on...

Yes, Mitch and Tim had some nice specimens also...

Generally, speaking, the number of breeders at the Daytona Show was down from last year (about a 100 tables or so)...Which maybe a sign of the economy as well as the ROC stuff from FWCC. I only saw a few of the ROC pythons represented at only a few breeder's tables...As a final observation, folks seemed to be looking for specific animals and then only acquiring only a few of them. Almost everyone I spoke to (breeders) said that this year was a down year...

Still, I was able to meet new folks and spend some time talking to some of the "old timers" (Carl May included)...On Friday, my friend and I traveled over to Bushnell to meet with Rob at Glades Herps, acquire some new Brooksi specimens and have a brief tour of some of their collection...Next year, we'll spend more time over there...

Later,
Jim.
