Just tried some new food with my snaps

athos_76 Sep 16, 2003 08:56 AM

I just tried beef heart yesterday with my hatchlings, and it remeinded me of the movie 28 days later. The only thing I can compare it to is watching Animal Planet and seeing a pack of hyenas eat. I put about 6 small pieces on their feeding log, and both of them swam the fastest they could and amazingly took turns eating. Then I gave them some full size crix, which they easily ate. Then for dessert, I fed them some small snails. Thos little ones that plague fish stores. It was the coolest thing.

“Then for dessert, I fed them some small snails.”

It's a tough call to make, whether or not to feed them snails, even snails from fish stores.

Snails are the primary host for a number a parasites, the most common being flukes (a type of flatworm). You’re probably better off not taking the chance.

(Yeah, I know: “But they love ’em!”)

Hmm.. Did not know that... Then, from now on I shall give them something else... Not sure what it will be, but it has to be as tasty for them... I think half the fun of the snail treat is breaking thru the shell..
