Bad Luck On The Creams

guyergenetics Aug 24, 2009 08:27 PM

Had a run of bad luck with the Creamscicles.

Only 7 out of 20 eggs even hatched. Of those, not one, but two of them drug unformed twins out of the egg with them. Then one of the seven was found dead today for no apparant reason. Then of the remaining six, five of them were deformed with bellies not together and guts coming out. One of those even already had maggots up inside the abdominal cavity while it was alive. Those five became Kingsnake food and I ended up with only one healthy looking baby out of the whole mess.

I don't think that I'll pair that male with that female ever again.

Incubation time was 73 days. Temps fluxed some but stayed in the low 80s.

These were incubated the exact same as all of my other clutches which are doing well. There is something genetic going on with this one. I'm never pairing that male with that female again.
