I fed mine hoppers for about a year with the odd wax worm as treats.
I've now managed to get them to eat mealworms from a bowl using the "like it lump it" method. Basically thats the only food I gave them for a week or two and they learn't if they wanted to eat they had to eat mealworms. (I also dropped a few infront of them to get them used to the idea.
As for making wax worms nutrious.. Even if you could add extra vitamins to them they are still largely made up of fat. To much fat is bad in any diet, even a spoilt Leo's.
My I suggest scenting a few mealworms with some crushed up wax worm. I've heard of this working for other people when their leos became adicted to wax worms and refused all other food types.
Hi,
I recently purchased a 1.5 group. All of th girls caught on pretty quickly where the food was (mealworms in a bowl). The male, however, wouldn't touch his bowl at all! I held one in front of him, he licked it then turned up his nose. Because he's so tiny (compared to the male i have already), i got concerned so i tried crickets. The newbie went nuts and ate up every one of them
I'm going to keep trying to get him to take mealworms, probably do the waxworm dip thing hehehe cause i HATE crickets. I had to put the container of them in a cabnet thats in my walkin closet.......and i can still hear them cherping.

Hi there
I have a male leo who will only eat canned crickets. I'll put live crickets in his tank and he'll catch and eat one but return right away to the crickets in his dish. Its almost like hunting is just to much effort. He'll eat canned mealworms but not from the dish he insists on being hand fed. One treat he really likes but only gets ever so often is baby food with vitamins stirred in. He LOVES it! I only give it to him every few months though but when he gets it he is a happy camper.
