Ontogenetic changes

Dan Johnson Sep 16, 2003 09:28 AM

For many of the snakes in my collection, I try to have photos
of the snakes as both hatchlings and adults to show how they
change ontogenetically. One snake that I just posted an adult
picture for is at the link below. I think the change is pretty
impressive and would say the adult bears little resemblance to the hatchling. In my opinion the snake is pretty impressive as
an adult, but don't know if others would agree. Enjoy.

Yes Dan I agree with you.
The snake was nice as a hatchling,
but much more impressive as an adult IMO.

That is a good looking snake Dan. I like that black neck and the high-white. All the Gaps I got from you are getting better with age. The white is getting brighter and on the light phase abberrant Blair's the orange is much brighter now.

Cool snake Dan. The changes that alterna, especially from the Gap, can go through can be quite interesting. One of the many things I enjoy about your web site is actually seeing the changes of the offspring that you have kept to maturity. There are many, but another animal that I think people should check out for a dramatic change would be your # 00C0101.

If there is anybody out there who is into alterna and has not visited Dan Johnson's website, you definitely need to take the time and do so. The amount of information, time and effort put into Dan's site is remarkable. Kudos to you Dan Johnson. BTW, I'm not bucking for a discount here, just stating fact. DB
