Super Salmons???

MetalHeadReptiles Aug 26, 2009 10:19 PM

I was just wondering if the genetics are the same for boas as for balls? I have a pair of salmon boas that are breeding as we speak, are their offspring considered poss super salmons or am I mistaken? Thanks for your input!

salmon x salmon should produce super salmons, although it can be difficult to distinguish between normal salmons and supers.

Salmon genetics are considered Dom. So a Salmon X Salmon pairing will produce.

25% Homozygous Salmon, (Super Salmon)

50% Het. Salmon, (normal Salmon)

25% WT

So all the salmons will be possible Super Salmons

As Krystal said you really can't distinguish one from
the other with a 100% certainty
Thus they all become Possibles

I'm not clear on your "BP" question / reference meaning which BP
trait is compatible to the Salmon / Hypo trait in Boas

Hope I've answered your question though

yea sorry after I wrote that I realized the traits are still different. So all the offspring that are salmon will be Poss. supers and the normals just normals?

CAn anyone post pictures of proven super salmons vs. salmons that highlight any differences that make it possible to distinguish the two?I would be really interested to see that, and I'm sure a number of others would.
Thanks

Salmons tend to have more black outling of the saddles especially the tails, and supers not so much, and that is not definate.
the only way to prove you have a super salmon is through breeding. Sry i do not have any pics.
