In the gradual selling off of what was once a 200+ collection of breeders 2.2 thayeri do remain. 1.1 is a pair of vivid's f1 retro or earth toned animals the male it the orangish leonis pictured.

The other pair is a female that remains from my old line and is an applegate/sipperly/lemkey derivative. She too is pictured. When I moved out the lion share of my thayeri Howie Sherman picked out a female derivative and a nice yellow leonis that I'd acquired from Bob Johnson. I realy know nothing of the lineage of these but Bob knows the natural history of mexicana, maintains a collection of all locality animals (save thayeri) and takes absolute awesome care of his animals and customers. These two bred for howie and I got the pick of the litter male who balances out my 2.2 breeders.

Most years I cross the female vivid to the 50% Bob Johnson male and the vivid male to the green female from my line.

I'm also rearing up a pair of 08. Last year I acquired a trio of thayeri from Russ Bates. My vivids were crossed to these and I retained a single pair one from each clutch. The third pic I don not believe is one of the actual hold backs but one went to another forum member. I thought both a bit atypical but they were too pretty not to retain at least one. As a yearlying the female I kept has retained this exact color.

The center pic is the 08 holdback (bates X vivid cross) the last is from my old line. She is like third generation green. Oddly these start out screamer yellow.

I was just wondering since I remember your name on here since this subforum started some years back.....

Great to see that you still have some Mexicana and trust the breeders that produced them....After reading the thread below between you and Joe I thought you were disgusted and out of the Mexicana business....

Regards,

Not I mostly just got disgusted with the snake business period but can't seem to wean myself completely away from it. I'll always prize thayeri for their eye popping variability, docile nature and fitness as a subject for captive maintenance. They are great animals for beginning as well as advanced keepers. I've helped many a kid start off on keeping snakes by selling these characteristics to their parents. I think thats the part of breeding and selling I found most rewarding.

Think the tequila is talking.

I'm not really brand loyal. This time it was Sauza Conmemorativo. Not the best for drinking straight but not bad.

I was at work at 730 and have an hour drive to get here. Given my schedule cheap booze is not an option.
