funny smelling repcal pellets --HELP

eWalk Aug 27, 2009 04:15 PM

I just got two 4.5 lb bags of repcal adult pellets and they STINK. not like normal. These are repulsive. they smell like
banana taffy, and look shrivelled. I cant get ahold of repcal
to find out if they changed the formula because it is all automated.

Anybody know anything

I just got a big bulk bag of Rep-Cal, and I noticed too that the texture of the pellets was different. I did not notice a change in smell, however.

None of my dragons (25) will eat any of that prepared food. Oh, that's right, I don't offer them prepared food only fresh. lol.

Well by beardies love them (All 14 adults) I only feed them the pellets once a week, wee have a BIG garden out back that we DO NOT use any type of spray on so they get their fill of greens.
Our blue toung has however been raised on them and is fat and healthy. She refuses to eat fruit. She is what concernes me the most. The beardies will be fine

Ive tried a few times to get my dragons to eat them. Just doesnt work for me. The only thing Ive ever done w/ them is either feed them to my roaches or crickets lmfao. And one time I crushed it down to a powder and dusted my crickets w/ them. But thats it.

Well atleast one person has noticed a similar change, so maybe they have done something different. Though, if you are concerned, perhaps you should try them on a different pelleted diet? Atleast until you can get in touch with Repcal. Just a suggestion.
Hope everything works out!

Are you concerned they are not good or that the formula changed? My rule is if I wouldn't eat it, I don't feed it to my animals.

Only way to know if the pellet is bad is to contact repcal or the store you bought them. Other things is check if the bag is damp, discolored, torn, or otherwise compromised. Check the expiration date. Also, find the lot number and check the repcal website to see if there have been any reported issues. Try email if you don't want to sit through machines on the phone.

Well I just recived two more bulk bags of pellets
and they smell and look just like the last ones.
I was not able to find an email for repcal but they must have
changed something because again the bags look fine. no water damage or anything noticable
