ZONATA PULCHRA HAVE ARRIVED . . .

JKruse Aug 27, 2009 09:57 PM

Just returned froma brief get-away in Canada to find a small clutch of San Diego zonata out and about. My wife still finds it strange that the first thing I do once in the house is to check the incubator before ANYTHING else. I equate this with her need to be in the front of a line when it comes to a designer's clothing/accessory "sample sale".....LOL. It all boils down to anticipation, and after 83 days this is a much-needed fix....hope you like!

Jerry,

Why did you have to post those.

Now I will have to hold onto my 1.3 adult breeding group.

But what i really want is the Coastal Mtn kings.

keep the group?!? You're always wanting the dang things, and quite a nice trade-off you made indeed for brooksi.....so have at it man! Anything to keep the knuckleheads outta the crevices and getting some good captive-bred gems instead.

If it's one thing I hate it's crevice ruining knuckleheads! Great point.

You actually don't have to destroy any rocks or crevices. That was a loong time ago when collecting was legal and the professional collectors did not know what they were doing.

That incident in the Lagunas is what started all the restriction on all Calif reptiles. Someone complined that rocks were being split open and left a mess. Collectors didn't have the sense to return rocks to their original position to find more zonata in upcoming seasons.

Which has nothing to do with the snakes population densities. For most locales Mtn kings are very common. I would compare them to skinks. They are plentiful if you know how to look for them and when. They are nowhere near endangered or threatened. Just an example how regulation is always easy but deregulation is nearly impossible. NO Mtn king desities were done by Calif Wildlife F&G and since then it has been proven in their legal court system that they are very common and not threatened. But of course, this gets postponed or swept under the rug.

However I think that people ruining or not replacing rocks in their original postion should be a crime. And SHOULD BE PROSECUTED. If not for anything else, it makes the Mtn kings easier to find for the next guy.

Haha aint that the truth!?!? Mine knows it doesn't matter regardless of how many hours I had been on the road...I have to see the snakes and eggs before anything else.
Congrats on your new babies.
