Dragon Color Changes

jedge76 Aug 29, 2009 06:01 PM

Hello everyone,
I have a firetiger by hypo-tangerine dragon whose color changes depending on environment/conditions. For example, when I soak her, she becomes what I consider her natural color-bright reddish-orange with a yellow head. When she basks, she darkens to a darker red color. Is this what everyone else gets? Does the lighting change her as she soaks it in? Just curious. Thanks!

Hi Yes that is normal. Dragons darken and lighten their color depending how warm they are. If the dragon is trying to warm up he will darken his body to absorb more heat. As he reaches the desired temp he will lighten his color, to deflect or not absorb as much. Hope this helps.
