geofri Aug 29, 2009 06:37 PM

Hey, not much of a corn person, but I picked up these two guys from a lady who was moving and wanted rid of them.

any ideas as to what they are?
she thought the red one was a "blood red something" but it looks okeetee to me?

what about the gray one?

thanks everyone!

Looks like a fairly normal wild type corn (if a bloodred, it's a bad one LOL), and a motley ghost.

Thanks for the fast response!
Do you know what each are worth as adult males?

They are both very pretty. Congrats! Yes, Ghost Motley for the gray one. The way you can tell for sure on the red one is to look at his belly. Normals have black checkers, Bloodreds don't. If he has checkers then maybe she meant he was "het Bloodred".

I don't think bloodred on the first one either, nice "normal"
a belly shot would help but I don't see any kind of diffusion on it's sides.
The grey one, though, I'm going against the rest and saying motley anery.
The stripes along the neck, to me, just look a little dark to be ghost. Remember motley does seem to lesson melanin almost like a hypo.
anyway normal and motley anery

I was thinking the same darn thing, Jimmy.

The first snake is a normal.

My initial thought on the second one was anery motley.

It's sometimes impossible to tell a dark ghost from a light anery, so the only way to find out for sure would be to breed it to a hypo and see what the offspring are.

Jimmy,

I'm doing the "back to school" thing and taking Calculus.
That alone is eating up quite a bit of my time.
A local pet store is buying my last 9 corns -
so I'm done with hatchings (except for holdbacks) until next year.

That's a good point-anery motley is entirely possible. Time for a breeding trial....
