I found this little guy tonight in my backyard! My dog had him cornered against the privacy fence (he's learned to stay a ways back from things that slither) We had a good rain here the night before and things are starting to move here in central Texas again, finally!

Glad your dog stayed back. Have seen a few dogs that were bitten by cottonmouths; very swollen and obviously painful. Two that died were a 35 lb Boykin Spaniel and a 90 lb German Sheperd.

I dont think she would survive an EDB bite.
I have been training her to avoid snakes but she has an intense
prey drive.

he is very well trained, I used a texas rat snake as a training tool to keep him away from snakes

mine is my 5th dobie and very well trained except for snakes.
I think she is jealous that I pay so much attention to them.
It finally took a shock collar to teach her what 3 bites couldn't.
however, as you know dobie's lead with their nose and ETBs can strike faster than a dobie can retract a nose.....

Beautiful dog! They are great companions and friends! As long as you are the alpha of course, they are some strong willed animals and a handful to someone who doesnt know what they are doing. Again, gorgeous!
