Anyone have Everglade's rats pics...

RichH Aug 31, 2009 09:33 AM

I'm free today to browse the web. Interested in seeing some of what is labeled "Everglade's Ratsnakes".

Please, not here to debate anything about them Saw enough W/C many years ago. Curious to see pics though of those that still maintain a few "non het" individuals.

Thanks

You may have seen these already, but here's a nice male from a VERY red/orange locality(Hendry County, FL.) female.

He has really colored up nicely as he has matured. Additionally, he sports a solid red tongue as well.

and this last one, taken just minutes ago!

Wow, I have not seen glades like that since the 80's. Now thats what I am talking about. Excellent...

DMong Aug 31, 2009 01:19 PM

Thanks, Rich!,....glad you like that sequence of pics!

You're right,...many you see anymore are very "so-so" examples, with lots of evidence of intergradation.

Here is a pair I recently sold.

Mark Banczak Aug 31, 2009 08:07 PM

I have posted this guy several times before but I just love him. His color is a little softer now but he's fabulous. I think it's time for a fresher pic.

DMong Aug 31, 2009 09:57 PM

Wow!,.....both the hypo AND the other "pair" pics are really phenomenal!.....congrats on all those!

I want to find a mate similar to those when I go hunting down in Homestead with T. Crutchfield!

Is the hypo a descendant from Bill Love's long ago hypo line?

thanks, ~Doug

but I am not the original owner. The guy who had him last just wasn't into Glades.

parents were through Marcia Lincoln. Not certain how many generations back.

RichH Sep 02, 2009 07:18 AM

I have not heard her name brought up in reference to these snakes for many years. I recall these were her passion. It has been said she had one excellent collection.

monklet Sep 01, 2009 03:33 PM

Here's a few of my male '06 that may already have shown here...

As a yearling

This year. He perches almost all the time. Very inquisitive. Has been an on/off feeder and only about 4 1/2 but very healthy. A very fine snake indeed!

Out for a spin...

RichH Sep 01, 2009 03:57 PM

Thanks for sharing.

DMong Sep 01, 2009 03:57 PM

I agree!,.that is a very nice one indeed!

Thanks for posting the pics!

Glad so many still have interest in these guys. Thanks for the pic.

CrimsonKing Sep 02, 2009 09:15 PM

I like them all but rarely see any that I could call "true" or "pure"rossalleni.
Mine have more white on their chins than I'd like as most in the hobby do as well. Some have way too much white to even be considered 'glades yet are sold as such. You have to look them over carefully.
I'm hoping to eventually get what I want with them.
Hard to come by indeed.
Good luck.

I can't quite remember now if I saw that gem there or not, but I certainly DO remember those nice hatchlings you had!

I recommended to Crutchfield to go score a few from ya' after he mentioned occipitolineata to me way over at his table.

I would have snatched those out from under him well before hand, but funds weren't my strong point that year, so I lead him over to you instead..LOL!. If that had been 2007 however, I would have scored all you could muster up. Sky was the limit that year..hahaha!

Great lookin' hues of brown/pinks in that one ,man!, as you know, some can be much more solid colored, especially inside the blotches.

later, man! ~Doug

Crimsonking Sep 03, 2009 03:56 PM

...THAT guy was at home.
The ones you saw were from a recent wc (and new locale) Charlotte county male X DeSoto county female..
Maybe next year, I'll have a few clutches for ya to pick over???

Oh, okay,.

I'd just LOVE to get more of those, but I think I'm going to be really overwhelmed with these projects I already have going, not to mention all the friggin' hold-backs from all this stuff..LOL!

Yeah, I know,....famous last words!.......like Lays potato chips, just can't stop at one, or a couple hundred!..haha!

Seven years and counting. Thats great. Typically people post pics of herps they keep for breeding up. To see one as a pet is excellent. A true herper. Thanks for posting.

DMong Sep 04, 2009 10:53 PM

Very nice!, can you post a pic of what he looks like now too?

I always enjoy seeing "then and now" photo's, and progression shot's of animals.

Well, when I got him he was a little dirt brown saddled pinkie eater. He has grown. I will see about time for new picts. My business is slowing down for the school year (boarding kennel) and I may actually have some time

Yeah, it's amazing to see how fast some of them can grow too if given the right feeding plan.

Show us another pic of that nice one in the future!
