A Few Questions -- Please Read

I had a Kingsnake before and he would pretty much stay in his hide 75% of the time, I now have a 5 foot corn snake and he does the same. His hide was in the middle of the tank where it only read 75, which is what the cool end should be right? I moved it to the side with the heatpad, however, surface temp there was only 78 but under was between 85-90. Should I get a ceramic heater or what?

I don't know if you had just the one hide in the middle, or on each end as well, as it might of preferred hiding a little more as opposed to seeking optimal temps.

I would place a hide on each end too maybe, and see what it does. But expect it to seek different temps at different times, as this would be much more natural too, and help it thermoregulate according to any conditions as they come up.

I would still use the under-tank pad, but you can raise the tank very slightly in small even increments above the pad with anything of equal uniform size. I have done that many times, and has worked just great in dialing in to an exact temp.
