Ferrari Line Pastel Hypo Litter...

CCS Aug 31, 2009 05:59 PM

I got home from work this morning (graveyard sucks) and found the female that the Ferrari pastel bred had messed up her newspaper and was cruising pretty heavy. I stayed awake for about an hour checking on her, but no go so I passed out. I woke up around 3:30 and she was in the middle of delivering. I grabbed the camera to take pics, but in my semi-conscious state the pics were not that great.

I wound up with 5 hypos and 9 normals, but that wasn't the main stat of this litter. There were two sets of twins born in this litter, which I had never heard of before in boas. I got pics where both sets were sticking their heads out at the same time. The animals in this litter were everything I had expected from the adults. Enjoy the pics.

If you look closely, you can see both sets of twins with their heads out in this pic.

The mother not approving of me having my hand in the cage.

Thanks for looking, Chris

Those have to be the nicest pastel salmons boa's I've ever seen with my own eye's ever!!! Sweet outcome and the colors on those newborns are insane! WAY TO GO MAN. That's selective breeding. I really hope to those on the classifieds LOL.
Take Care,

JAKE

Very nice Chris. Please post pics after sheds as they look like they are going to be fantastic. Loads of color on the babies.

Congratulations,

I figured I would post pics of the father and better pics of the mother.

if my memory serves me correctly dave colling (rainbowsrus) had a litter of rainbow boas that had twins and even had a few pics of them still in the sac

Great litter Chris. Are you going to be at the Raleigh show this coming weekend?

As far as the twins go, this is not that rare in fact. Most people do not see them i the same sac, but, often people find either one or two small snakes in a clutch (sometimes more). These are twins. I had a female produce a pair of Sonoran twins a few years back. Very cool, but can be a pain to get going.

I will be at Raleigh on Sunday, Warren. I know that twins are not that rare, but I have not heard of two sets being born in the same litter.

You are right Ryan, this was a huge litter for me and for this bloodline. I hope to have another surprise from this guy next season, we will see how that goes.

Amie, I will certainly have at least a couple babies from this litter in Columbia, but I will probably have more in Charlotte.

John, thanks for the compliment, and good luck with your boy.

Chris
