Couple More Clutches Hatching

guyergenetics Sep 01, 2009 08:33 AM

The clutch from my Silverqueen has been hatching. I bred her to one of the Ghosts from my own line.

The babies are coming out looking just Anerytheristic. I'm going to have to wait until they shed a couple of times to see what their colors are going to do and if the Hypomelanism comes out. If they stay just Anery and no Hypo is visible then doesn't that mean that I bred two different forms of Hypomelanism together?

I'm afraid that I may have taken my Ghost line a step backwards with this project but we'll have to wait and see.

Also, the second clutch of the Lavender Motley project has begun to hatch.

You can see a Lavender head poking out over on the right.

that hatchling does look anery.
I had some ghosts last year that hatched out extremely dark but lightened up after a couple of sheds. maybe they will.
Is it possible the ghost of yours was actually a light anery?
just speculating.
If you are 100% certain that both are ghosts and you get anerys then it would seem they would have to be different forms of hypo.
interesting.

The Ghosts from my line are definitly not light Anerys.

This is one from '08:

I bred one of my Ghosts to an unrelated multi het Anery this season and got Ghosts....don't think that there is anything different with the Hypo in my Ghost line.

But, that Silverqueen might very well have something different as this is her first breeding and no Hypo is showing in the babies.

I'm going to hold onto the babies for a while and see how they develope and whether or not they lighten up. If they don't lighten up, then we're going to have to do some test breedings in the future.

I sorted out 12 babies from 13 eggs from the Silverqueen clutch. They all came out Anery and I bred Ghost to Ghost so it would appear that I've got two different forms of Hypomelanism going on. It's going to take some breeding trials to figure this one out.
