Yes Florida has a permit system. This has been discussed heavily on here with all the bans trying to be passed. Don't know where you have been.

I think the rest of us have "a life" as well. We are interested in keeping it too, and preventing the government from taking away every last right we have, including the right to keep and breed the Reptiles we work with. These are dangerous times with the government, and those that run it, are happily looking to take all they can as quickly as they can before they get voted out.

Please take some of the time you have to find out all that is happening and how you can help protect yourself. After all, this is "your life" too.

On January 1st, 2008 the ROC (Reptiles of Concern) were officially listed in the FAC (Florida Administrative Code) and required for ownership to be registered with the State of Florida ($100 annual permit) and microchip for identification. There was about a year prior of formulation and a number of public meetings. This was the end result. As an owner of any one of the ROC species in Florida, it's your responsibility to know the law(s).

This link will show you the whole thing. IF you live in Florida and currently keep any of the ROC animals, your best bet is to either get the permit and chip for them, or relinquish them to an entity that can accept them legally.

I work 2 jobs, electrition mechanic by day, bouncer by night. I just wanted to alert anyone who was unaware. of one of us! actually getting arrested!!! I knew about the microchipping but not the registering. Thank you
