3 Slugs 1 deformed albino

BOASnRUGBY Sep 01, 2009 11:03 AM

My 7 1/2 foot 24 lb het albino female recently had a "litter" consisting of 3 slugs and 1 deformed albino which died in about an hour. Last year she had 13 slugs 8 hets and 5 albinos. Since she is bigger this year, I left the male in with her until 5 weeks prior to her dropping, and I have a better heating system (RHP vs flex watt) I figured she would at worst popped out close to 30 slugs. Is it possible she is still carrying the babies?

I think its very likely that your female is carrying more babies or slugs. I have seen females that are very gravid pop out a few prematurely. The rest often follow within a week. Keep her stress free and watch for increased activity.

Thanks for the reply. She dropped the slugs and premie at 2:30 am on Aug 26. I happened to look in her cage as it was happening. She has been very anxious ever since. She'll poke her head out of which ever hide she is in if I even walk in the room. She has used the aspen bedding and newspaper to make a nest under the larger of her hides. Hopefully she will drop the rest soon. Are there any health concerns for the female if she doesn't pop anything out in the next couple days.
