Red Ghosts

CarolinaHerper Sep 01, 2009 11:26 PM

Hi, I bred a male Ghost (het for Amel) this year to a female Ghost I had purchased as a hatchling a couple of years ago. He was a proven breeder to a number of different females over the years that had always given typical results. When the eggs hatched the saddles on the young had a definite red tinge to them, except for two whose saddles were quite red.... what happened. (second pic is "most of the clutch" first is one of the two "reds".The eggs didn't get mixed up with any other clutches th`e whole clutch was a adhered together when I took it from the nest box.
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Hypos.
Ghost = Anery plus Hypo.
The two types of anery in your ghosts did not "match up."
Maybe you have Anery A & Anery B ghosts.
Because the anerythristic genes don't match, they aren't expressed - just hypo is.

I was thinking the same thing. Those are nice hypos though, especially the really red ones. Nice ghosts too, Tim.
