Sunkissed Okeetees!

brhaco Sep 02, 2009 07:45 PM

Thanks to Jeff Cochran for the pair of Abbotts I purchased from him a couple years ago. Unbeknownst to either of us, they were both het for Sunkissed! A very pleasant surprise when several of the clutch hatched out Sunkissed...

Stargazer... It was found occasionally in Sunkissed lines..
These animals have motor control issues.. very similair to a Wobble head spiders.. Apparently it is thought to be a simple recessive gene.. If you have a stargazer, there is no way you can miss it in a clutch.. When a Stargazer is at rest, you will probably not notice their movements.. However when stimulated, it is very noticable.. This is not a desirable I want to see passed on..

I believe this might be where the term Stargazer came from..

thanks for the examples and explanation ive seen the wobble in week spiders but i was unaware of any problems with any corn lines, is this something that is noticeable from the start? or does it develop later on? so far both the sunkissed i hatched out appear to move normally are eating well and seem to have normal muscle control.

Your going to know imediately after they leave/during their leave from the egg..

It was thought to have been totally related to Sunkissed, but it seems to have appeared in a few other morphs too.. It is supposed to a simple recessive, so it could be passed on very easily.. I think Kathy L found an example of stargazing in an early line of Striped Bloods she worked with.. i could, however be wrong, and I think Kathy will be unavable tommorow and Sunday.. ( Anahiem Show )...

Well its good to know that this could be a problem, and it sounds like one that i dont want to pass on unwittingly.
