No Heat...

sanchezk Sep 02, 2009 09:10 PM

Hi-
I have an AP rack that decided to stop working today. It's sitting at room temperature right now and I can't figure out why it won't heat up. I've checked all connections/plug-ins and can't seem to figure out what's wrong. Does anyone have any ideas?

How does it heat? What is the heat tape/cord configuration? Multiple connections, or just the one at the plug?

Also, it would be a good idea to give AP a ring. They've always been very helpful with any rack questions we have.

In the meantime, throw a room heater in your snake room and bring the temp up a little if you are concerned about them being too cold.

It's heat cable that weaves through the different levels... just one wire, with one plug..

Heat cable is not dependable. I have heard that it does not last.

I've had numerous cages and racks from AP and all have used their heat cable. These are running nearly 24/7 365 days a year. Out of about 20-25 units I've had one failure in five years.

Give AP a call, if the cable failed they'll replace it.

Dude, LOL....I don't care what you do. If Allie (sp) and I could care less how you spell her name elects to stop selling to me, I would be happy to buy my racks somewhere else. I have been a good customer over the years and I have recommended numerous people to her. I would just build them myself if I did not have the money to just buy them pre made. It is a fact that cable is not holding up and she does not keep it a secret. Call her and ask and use my name....LOL. And no I am not a big breeder...I breed for fun. My wife and I make a ton of money and snakes are purely our fun. But the funny thing is we are the people that aren't saturating the market with high priced snakes at wholesale prices because we can actually pay our bills with our own money and not snake money. When we sell snakes we sell them for their full value or we do not sell them. There are no fire sales coming out of our snake room. We don't go to shows and we purely breed because we love ball pythons. So insult me all you like. It just shows weakness on your part. Sorry if I don't insult you back, I am over 12 years old. Again, the only reason I emailed you direct was because of your BS reply to people that could be misled by you.

Why don't you call Allie at AP. She is probably best to fix your problem.

Good luck,

Disconnect the controller from the heat cable and plug a incandescent light bulb or heating pad on high into it and put the controller sensor by the heat source. It should turn the device on and off as you place it near the heat. If not it may be the sensor on the controller, or the controller itself.

If the controller works good, plug the heat cable directly into the wall and make sure it heats up throughout the entire cable.

Good luck.
