Cages for retics

eschmit04 Sep 03, 2009 12:15 PM

So I have caved and decided the best solution to my caging needs is to pony up and buy professional cages. I wanted to ask your experiences with the vaious cages available, boaphile, repti-racks, boamaster, etc.. Is there a brand that works better with the size, weight, and strength of retics. I am already on planning to add keyed locks with whoever I go through.

thanks for your time everyone,

liking my animal plastics cage so far, though I've only had it a few months. Biggest they make is 8'though, so not big enough for one of the really huge retics.
Have not liked the larger visions in the past, haven't tried boamaster or boaphile.

I am only planning on keeping males, and plan on keeping them smaller than larger. I am looking at boamaster the closest, 6'x3'x14". Any recommendation on sliding or hinged? I plan on doing a double door design either way for support.

thanks!

Given the choice, I'll always take sliders on large cages. It lets you control the size of the opening, it doesn't leave a door flapping around while you're working, and it seems more secure since you never have a large glass door hanging by it's hinges while you work.

Agree totally. Sliding glass gives you more control-especially at feeding time. Much safer for you also. Bill

I have a stack of 5 each 8 foot Boamasters and really like them. They are hinged and I think that they are way easier to deal with than my 6 foot VISIONS with sliders. The Boamasters I bought have a slot in the center for dividing the cage. So in my case I can make an 8 footer into 2 4 footers for when they are smaller. When they are larger I can use the divider to block of 50% of the cage for safe cage cleaning without removing the snake from enclosure.

So far I really like these Boamasters and they hold heat way better than the Visions cages.

I agree sliding glass is way better and if you have the dividers thats nice as well. I was able to find some 6' Neo's, i have a stack of three high and i love them. Its a bummer they don't make them anymore

Neodesha is back into making cages again. I'm not sure if they are making the 6 ft. cages or not, but I know they are making 4 ft. for sure.

Look in the classifieds under cages and you'll find them there.

Only up to 4' Bummer.

Yes, quite a bummer.

Their 6-foot cages were great. One piece, hose-em-down in the yard and big, strong aluminum tracks for the sliding glass.

Oh, if only...

Also, their 8-footers were outstanding. Never had one, but saw them in person. Wow!

Ya i saw they had up to 4' back in action . But not the 6 or 8'. I have 3, 6' ones and i love them. Plenty of vents HEAVY DUTY glass sliding doors, nice metal racks that hold up to 4 high . I had a 14 female in one of them before my 8' cages were done and she always tried to get out by sliding the doors open and even with no locks she could never open them!. Great cages to base a design off of.

animal plastics actually make cages larger then 8 foot you have to custom order them though. I have seen a 16 foot animal plastic cage
