Thats a nice Hypo Clown, the way you presented it, I was expecting the triple recessive, Hypo Axanthic Clown!

RandyRemington Sep 05, 2009 03:44 PM

Congratulations Rich, very nice hit!

medusah, for some reason the single mutation also called hypo was originally named ghost in ball pythons even though that is a combo in other species. So the ball python hypo axanthic combo is called "true ghost".

medusah Sep 06, 2009 07:30 AM

I realize that Randy, Dan and Colette Sutherland at TSK hatched the first double homo Hypo/Axanthic and rightly so called it a Ghost, not a true ghost! The name true ghost sounds so wrong its not even funny.

It's nice to see more and more people coining the name ''Hypo'', in my book, a Ghost is double homo Hypo/axanthic!

The double hets that produced him were from an orange ghost female bred to a clown ,do you not refer to them as orange ghosts anymore? maybe I'm just old school,Rich.

medusah Sep 06, 2009 09:45 PM

Nah! I must then be new school, what is the double-homo Hypo/Axanthic called that TSK produced and named? sorry, they are orange Hypos

RandyRemington Sep 07, 2009 03:44 PM

I knew that TSK lead a valiant campaign several years back to change the name of the single mutation from ghost to hypo and I had noticed that hypo had caught on a lot although I still see "ghost" often. But I didn't know that TSK is calling the combo just Ghost. Did they abandon the "True Ghost" name from the start or did they only use "Ghost" with their new web page? I know we talked about true ghost for years before they finally produced one. I agree that the change needs to happen I just didn't think we where there yet.

The color lines of hypo are another point I'm not so sure about. I thought NERD once posted that they started several of the other colors from selectively breeding a "green" line. Now I hear there might be a new green line that isn't compatible. I produced my first gh.. er hypo this year descendent from TSK's extreme hypo on one side and I think Brian Sharp's on the other. I see Brian now advertizes buterscotch/yellow but not sure which line he was breeding when the ancestor of mine was hatched and sold the the guy I bought my first het from. I'd be tempted to just lump them all together as "group 1 compatible" hypos or something like that. Maybe just name the few lines that aren't compatible?

Rich, was the hypo ancestor of your clown hypo from that girl that was sold as a normal ch baby and then came back into the store as a stunning young adult in the summer of 2001? I've always wanted to get some hypo blood from that line some day. Big opportunity lost not trying to find a way to buy her right before NERD started producing hypo combos and they went from a morph no one could tell from normal in the crappy Internet pictures of the day to a must have.

Hey Randy, thats the one, the mother was bought at a petshop I can't remember if it was" scales" or not and this guy came in with it around his neck ,I ended up buying the snake for $75.00 and she was bred to Alex Tanner's reduced male clown ,the double hets I own are from that pairing I just had a clutch hatch from the double het male to a normal Thanks Randy, Rich Kensinger.

Very Nice clown combo, I am still taken back by regular clowns after all these years, so a morph mixed with a clown is like ball python heaven on earth, lol.
Congrats again very nice.
