Breeding Suggestions

JMo Sep 05, 2009 07:16 PM

Hi guys - I'm a novice and had an unccessful breeding season because I didn't realize I had two females until I was starting to get frustrated that nothing was happening and had both probed. Anyway - live and learn - I'm going to get a male and start all over again. Currently I have a female amel and female snow; I want to get a male that will hopefully produce more morphs than normals - I live in NJ and we're not allowed to have normals. I like the bloodreds and would consider getting a male - what do you think? Any other suggestions?

Thanks for reading,
Jim

you cannot own a bloodred...no red eyes....sorry...
get a male snow motley,....babies will be all snows and all amels het snow ,,,unless one of them is het motley or striped....then you'll get that gene also visible in amels and snows.....it happens alot....

.....you need all red eyed babies.....something snow is in order for you.........

also remember that if you get a male snow you could end up with a mix of snows and amels out of the amel breeding. if your really interested in bloodreds get a pair of amel bloodreds.

Thanks to all who provided advice - it is greatly appreciated. I'll soon start my search for a male meeting the criteria you have provided.

Thanks again,
Jim

The only male you can breed to those two females and get all morphs for offspring is an amel. This would give you all amel offspring (assuming there's no het traits involved).

Breeding a bloodred to those snakes would give you all normal-looking babies. You might also want to look into if bloodreds are allowed in NJ - bloodreds were orginally developed from a wild population of snakes.
