Reptiles and Incense

natethegreat Sep 05, 2009 07:36 PM

Does anyone know if it is safe to burn incense (or candles) in a room with reptiles and amphibians?

Ventilation is key. I don't think it's exceptionally dangerous, but it is smoke. Animals (like birds) that have advanced respiratory systems are more susceptable and incence is highly unrecommended. On the other hand, reptiles don't have a diaghram and a good wiff of smoke will sit in the lungs for a lot longer than it would you or I. Things to think about anyhow.

Yeah, thanks. Has anyone else used incense/candles with reptiles?

Hi, I have done both with no ill effects. However I have a large, well-ventilated (in effect open air) room. Don't think I'd do it in a fully closed environment.

On the same note, I also burn mosquito-repelling incense in the same room, with no problems, but again only with doors and windows open.
