Hello Chris,

Do you think the Concrete Acrylic Fortifier by Quikrete will work for the pool?

Thanks

That should work fine. The only two brands I see at general hardware or DIY stores are that one and an ACE Hardware product. All the others are at supply places catering to contractors.

Sounds good. Do you know if the concrete will affect the water hardness in any way that might be harmful to fish or amphibians?

The pH will be affected but even that should normalize over time. This is discussed on fish forums quite a bit so you might visit some of them and read about the concrete backgrounds affecing pH.

I know I have questions for days....Here's another one:

I have a bag of Vinyl Concrete Patcher laying here that says not to add an acrylic fortifier, and I noticed the specs for the fortifier said not to add it to vinyl concrete patcher. Do you know if it will perform like a concrete with the acrylic additive added to it?

Thanks

I'm not exactly sure what will happen. I think the reason why you don't do this is because the vinyl concrete patch is designed to cure quickly in the presence of water. The acrylic resins in the bonding agent are water soluable and might interfere with the chemical reaction of the vinyl patch.

If you have the vinyl based stuff I guess I would skip the bonding agent. It probably is not necessary.
