This is a funny 3 fathered clutch. I've had a couple of two fathered clutch but my first 3. Thought it a bit comical...

Congrats Tom!!
Last year I produced a three father clutch. I breed a Lemon Pastel female to a Cinnamon Pastel, Fire, and a Pinstripe. My goal was to produce a double co-dom and was rolling the dice to see which father took. I never expected to have multiple fathers!
My question to you or anyone reading this forum is have you ever heard of a three father clutch happening before?
Once again, congrats on the clutch!

Mike Wilbanks had a triple dady clutch a few years ago. He bred a Mojave, Pin, and a fire to a female normal. She laid 4 eggs, out of which came a mojave, Pin, a fire and a normal. It was pretty awesome, I've only had one double daddy clutch myself, just cinns and pastels.

I got a three father clutch this season - problem is that the mom was only bred to one of the fathers (Pinstripe) from this season and the other two (mojave and cinni) from last season.

That's where the Spider came from in mine was from last year. This year only Calico and Fire males were used..Go figure..The ONLY thing I used a Spider male for this year for was Bumblebee's.....

EXACTLY MY THOUGHTS EVEN WITH SNAKES I PRODUCE UNLESS IT'S A VIRGIN OR HAS NEVER BEEN BRED TO ANY OTHER MALE...I don't know after this how a het could be 100% guaranteed if the year before it had been bred to something different. I know that I won't offer them for sale....Good Point and one I was goint to post on today.

It does muddy the waters a bit -- especially considering the number of incidents that I've seen this season (my case included) where the female laid the previous season. I'd always thought that if they laid they got used up the sperm.

now if that female has been with the same recessive morph for several years then no problem. but i do see a problem when breeders swap males every year to produce different morphs on the same female.

i have 1.1 08' het lavender albinos that should be ready to play next year. i was guarenteed they are 100% hets. and they came from a reputable breeder, BUT the fact remains there's always that chance......

i have some 1.1 07' albinos i need to prove out this upcoming season aswell.

i guess time will tell the truth???

sorry meant to say 1.1 07' het albinos.

and forgot to mention what about those females laying eggs, that weren't even paired that season?

just when you thought you were in control, huh!

I feel if a breeder keeps good records of what they are breeding to what, they could eliminate most issues like this.
I only breed co-dom males to normal females. Recessive males get hets or poss hets. Once I feel a poss het is proven normal she then can be put with the co-dom males as a normal. The first year she goes in with a co-dom, she is breed to a super. If she throws a “normal” that year, then I can refer to my records for that females breeding history and have an educated guess as to what that baby could be. YET I still would never sell that baby as a het or poss het. Either I would hold “her” back or it would be included with the normals being sold to pet shops.
Everyone has there own methods but this is what I do just so I can sleep well at night knowing that I sold a 100% het.

Just my $.02

alot of people don't put in the extra effort you happen to put in.

Actually the only het anything I sell in Ball Pythons are het Pieds BUT the females are hets themselves so they're NEVER bred to anything but visual PIEDS....The above outcomes are something to consider for folks that do however and as I've said I wouldn't sell as hets if I had used the snake with other males the previous year or perhaps even years. FOOD FOR THOUGHT
