Hey guys!

I am going over to sacramento CA for a couple of days next month for work but will have an evening or two free to look for herps.

Anyone know of Pacific gopher snake hotspots or location of striped phase pacific gopher populations in the area????

Keep the train rollin', John!!
With the luck you've had already in 2009 I am sure you'll have a blast and see some great herps.
Hey what's this I hear about an early Christmas present? I got a call today from Bob F. and he says he has goodies for me.....what did you do??!! LOL
Best of luck to you as always, my friend!!
Be safe out there. Talk soon.
Cheers,

You will have to wait! Now that you have the Pituophis bug, your melanoluecus collection is not complete w/o a pair of these.

enjoy......

Hey, I have a friend who looks in California all the time. I don't know how much he has been around the Sacramento area but he finds tons of Gophers everywhere he goes-which is good for me because he is really not that into them.

I think he just came home from Texas today, I will shoot him a e-mail and ask if he knows any good spots around the area. I am only good for Arizona and Nevada and a little bit of Utah. I will send you a PM or e-mail if I get the info.

That looks like a Mojave Rattlesnake. I met a guy who got bit by one of those!

not to be a "know it all" but the image is of a fairly classic western diamond back (Crotalus atrox), the color and tail are give a ways on this one but I will definitely grant you that they can look very similar.

I grew up around that area, never once saw a striped Gophersnake in over 25 years of living there. Needless to say I was shocked to hear the gene is co-dominant lol.
