Not that this is keeping me up at night,

bakeaway Sep 10, 2009 08:33 PM

i have some of my snakes in fiberglass/pvc cages which have a clear front. and ther rest are in a rack with CB70s. I just wondered if since snakes like to hide that they would favor a opaque tub to a cage. my friend felt sad cause the snakes in the rack could not see out,,,then i felt guilty,,,well,,and then i had a shot of maker's mark,,and felt alittle better,,,
also cause i am trying to decide to either go with a new rack,,or cages....
thanks

Kentucky, now thats the place to get good Bourbon. These days I prefer Blanton's. Tried it 20 years ago and stuck with it. Best there is

Keep drinking the stuff. You'll forget about what the snakes can see. Anyway, I don't think they find us attractive.

What part of Kentucky are you from?

Bluerosy Sep 11, 2009 11:27 PM

Since i still get passes from Delta I might be shooting up there. Lexington, Kentucky that is...

They have a "bourbon tasting" event this Sept that I really would want to go to. It costs $150. per person. It is a real gala event with all sorts of people dressed up , dancing, dinner and all the different bourbons one can taste. You even see politicians and movie stars. Every table even gets a full bottle of the 'special shows' bourbon at dinner. Makers Mark even has their booth carved out like an ice cave.

My Father-in-law works at Jim Beam so that is the only Bourbon my wife will drink (I can’t stand the stuff myself). The first time I was in Bardstown with her I got out of the car and got a whiff of sour mash and thought it smelled awful so I ask her what that smell was she replied “Home” I still hate that smell.

That tasting is part of the Kentucky Bourbon Festival; I have been to the festival a few times but never to the tasting. Jerry Bruckheimer owns a house in Bloomfield right outside of Bardstown and usually brings actors in for the festival.

Ya maybe you should have smelled while breathing in with your mouth open.

Actually I don'y care for the bitter flavor. I like the coal filtered Gentleman Jack.

I would take a twelve year old Glenfiddich any day over bourbon.

That's right. Borbons are agred and have a bitter taste on the sides of the tonque. That is why Makers mark is popular. It is not aged and does not have that bitter taste.
But I still like the coal filtered Gentleman Jack.

No, I just looked it up. I might try it next time my wife and I visit her parents.

Now that would be something I would like to attend. Can't do it this year though. May start making plans now to do it possibly next year.

Oh, sometimes I drink Jack (I know Tn. Whiskey)& Coke as well. I sprinkle some, wait, I mean pour some in to cut the taste. Can't seem to drink Jack Daniels straight all the time. Twist of lime and there you go.

Found this interesting tid bit on the web:::

"Jack Daniel had quite a temper. He also had trouble remembering the combination to the safe. "He couldn't get the safe open one day and got so mad that he kicked it," explains Junior. "He broke his toe. Gangrene set in and that's what eventually killed him."

I'm thinking he really did enjoy his product. I have seen many, after drinking Jack, do similar stuff.

I'm kind of wandering too. I plan to raise them in racks up till the boot box size (like 23X15) and evaluate how i think it's going. If I think a cage would be better than a larger rack, I'll buy some of the 3X2 AP cages or something. I've had mixed luck with racks before but it really doesn't seem to go even by species--some snakes like big spacious cages and some are happier huddled in a hide *shrug* The only cal king I ever kept was a rescue job that was a nut case and paranoid until I put him in a 55 or 60 gallon planted tank...

bakeaway Sep 12, 2009 11:37 AM

i have my carpet in Ap cage,,and my kings in Reptile Basics,,,the racks that have clear fronts are Freedom and ARS,,,nice,,,

It seems to be quite a big deal for my Gophers and Kings to be able to see outside. I've got tanks set up on a shelf in the living room. I have a SD Gopher that comes out of his hide and stares at me while I eat breakfast on the couch and watch Sports Center every morning when I come home from work. I guess he feels the vibration of the door closing when I come in. Funny thing is, if I'm not there he will still come out and stare at the spot where I usually sit.
