Sable Pinstripe!!!

muddoc Sep 10, 2009 10:28 PM

I have been waiting for this animal for awhile. Another one of those crosses that I tried last year, but the female didn't lay. This year she gave us 5 eggs, and there are 2 Sables, 1 Pin, 1 Normal, and one of my Holy Grails. This is (as far as I know) the first Sable Pinstripe. I have seen plenty of Chocolate Pins, and this is very similar, but she appears to be slightly darker in the sides from what I recall. I think she will still make a Camo Ball, but since she is a SHE, I will have to wait a bit longer. Maybe now I will be forced to make another Sable cross next year, so I that I have something better to breed to her when she is ready.

p.s. Remember that Sable are hard to photograph, and she is no different. They are just so shiny. Maybe after she sheds I can get a more accurate shot that captures her colors better.

Introducing,

Thanks for looking,

Hi,

That is a really pretty snake...It reminds me of a clown, at least from the one pictured. Nice job, and I am jealous. I would like to just hatch out a normal ball at this point.

That is really cool. Do you think chocolates and sables are different versions of the same trait? I have definitely seen some that looked like the other but have not looked close enough to found a solid opinion. E

Thanks Evan. I have for a while now thought that the Sables and Chocolates are as similar as Cinnys and Black Pastels. I haven't seen as much similarity in the Sables and Chocolates as I have between Super Sables and Super Chocolates. I guees so more work will need to be done, but I think we may be able to do very similar things with these 2 morphs.

Congrats on the new cross, it is pretty neat looking.

Any chance you could post photos of the sable that produced her?

I will get some pics of the male Sable that was used in the breeding, later today or tomorrow.

Here he is about 2 years ago. He was about 500 grams in this picture. He has gotten a bit darker since this pic was taken.

Is that spotting on the head typical of all sables?
