Well, I've had several snakes ever since I was a child. To date none of them have ever had any problems. Today my wife calls me and tells me the snake is making a coughing sound. when i get home it looks like very loose stool. He has been on the cool side of the tank the last 2 weeks and seems to enjoy laying the water bowl, which is uncommon for balls. Yesterday I found him with his face hovering about 1inch above the water bowl and he was like that for at least 30 min while I was home. I opened the top and he retracted back to his hide...feeding has not changed, tempts seem to be okay...87ish on the hot side and 80 on the cool side. any ideas?

i have heard this noise. almost like there is serious gas behind the stool. i wouldnt say its coming from his throat.

I cannot count the times I've been blamed for snake farts!
I have one that has bad gas on a regular basis-- I have no idea why but its almost always the same male when I hear it....
charming quality in a hot looking snake... lol
