Picture request-boa swallows paper towel

Jonathan_Brady Sep 12, 2009 08:17 PM

I know I've seen posts about people feeding on paper towel substrate and the boas accidently ingesting the paper towel. Any chance anyone knows where I can find those photos, or could they post them?

Thanks!

Hey Jonathan . I had a female eat a paper towel that got stuck to her meal while in the feeding process. She was about 4-6 months old at the time . Luckily, she regurged the towel 24 hours later , and lived through the ordeal . I no longer use paper towels in tubs . I didn't take any pics of it though , sorry . But it looked like a wet paper towel all rolled up like a cigar.

Note to self....no more paper towels....

My Mexican Black King Snake did that around 2 years ago (sorry no pictures), and she's still defecating pieces of it to this day.

I had one do it but didn't see her doing it...but it came out when she defecated the next time....crazy

I've been discouraging a friend of mine from feeding on paper towels and I wanted to share this with him for obvious reasons.

I appreciate your reply...

WOW!!! That's scary!

I had it happen twice this year. Both Boas lived.

The first one I saw do it so I pulled the paper towel out.

I then switched to newspaper and had one eat the news paper then regurgitate it. When I found the regurgitated news paper it looked like a cigar all rolled up.

I haven't had the problem ever before.

If I could find/get sani-chips locally I'd use them instead.
