From a Triple het breeding

Bluerosy Sep 13, 2009 03:23 PM

These are local S. Dade county stock. These look to me as the famous "canal Kings" that have since dissapeared from the hobby. These are the more whiteish or cream colored kings. Not yellow.

Possible triple het Peanut Butter X hypo X axanthic.

I find it kind of ironic that the white Brooks are almost as rare
as your Pewters. Nice lookers you have there.

"I find it kind of ironic that the white Brooks are almost as rare as your Pewters"

they ar not rare. I have at least 30 of these new canal phase brooks. There are only 2 Pewters in existence and I have one male and sold the female to someone.

I had these local brooks canal phase all along. I just did not know the normal (hets) would look like what everybody is after. AI also did not know they traced back to the original canal brooks till later.

As far as nice normal locale brooksi, that turn white. there is no interest in them at all. Well maybe except from a few posters on this forum which i though these would be interesting and would be appreciated.
But anyone willing to fork out $50. for a great white brooks, Nahhh.

So much for the interest in these. NOBODY wants them. Bottom line. So there is no point in contuing to breed the normal canal phase that came from the original canal stock. It is just like it was in the past. And that is why they will dissapear forever.

Do you have any photos? I would like to see them...

Bluerosy Sep 14, 2009 10:29 AM

Well, the pics of the snakes in question are at the top of this thread. If you know that brooksi go through a process called ontogentic lightning and you know what to look for. Thse will trun out spectacular...and be pos triple hets to boot.

I have the parents that were the original def hets and they are white as can be.

I have lots of these for you brooksi affciandos who want a relic Brooks canal phase.

Rainer, your quote"But anyone willing to fork out $50. for a great white brooks, Nahhh". To me that says you breed for ONLY commercial interest. There are and will always be some people who keep and breed snakes for just the fun of it, because they like the look or because it(or its parents)was the souvenir of a particular hunt or locale.
While there are and will be 197 different "brooksi morphs", many will always think the original is best. If you selectively breed for them, great. But if they are byproducts of other breedings just be ok with that. Otherwise it just kinda sounds like marketing.

yes I make my living off of Florida kings. Tht is what I do.

I could choose other snakes to work with. I could just choose to reproduce the visual reccessive traits over and over again. But instead I choose to make new hets. create new double, triple and even quadruple hets. The hets don't sell well. Visual morphs do.

So I guess i do what i do because I like it . That is first. Second I have to market what i have or I would be stuck with 2000 babies every year.

Then comes this thread which has opened up some of my quirks within the forum. You see, only a couple people post here over and over the same thing. They want normal looking locale type babies. But when it comes down to trying to market these to the public. Good luck. because even if you have one pair that produces babies you will be stuck with the entire clucth. So not everybody reading this forum agrees.

But i do like the normals locale stock as well. I used to specialize in Rosy boas and that is ALL about locality data. I sold a nice pair of Brooks from S. Dade county To DMong. They were just nice looking S. Dade county stock that were het for nothing. He keeps posting them here. The pictures that is. I even asked if i could get some of the offspring back from them after he produces them.

So you see, i do like all types of snakes. Just with forums and public opinion is NOT always what it appears to be. And i am not like some of the top breeders who do everything for money. heck I HATE BALL PYTHONS!. If i was going to work for money i would do something else.

Rainer, I didnt know you made your living off these guys. I thought I was just bustin balls and being the CONTRARIAN that stirs the pot, lol. But even if you keep a single pair of these, YOU DONT HAVE TO BREED THEM. If you do, raffle em off, donate them(tax write offs)or throw them in with other deals as "sweeteners". I know I try to throw something in for free with every sale, its that thought that counts. It keeps customers coming back for more, the prize at the bottom of the cereal box....They just might end up in hands of someone that WANTS to work with Natural phenotypes...and we all win! And if they do.....of course you capitalize having the founder stock! Your work as Steward to these locales cant hurt your business, think about it Mr FL King!

Bluerosy Sep 14, 2009 04:43 PM

jeff,
how do you know i don't send snakes for free with orders? Have you ever ordered from me. to find out? I have known you for years and think you are a great guy. But why don't you purhase something 9not trade0 and well see. what happens.

Thomas davis just did and he got a pair for free.

All this talk on the forums don't add up to a bit if one does not bother to pick up the phone and ask me about what i am breeding. Not even my website is up to date.

So, anyone with interest can find out> but if you contact me because of this thread, sorry. I only give free Florida kings to people who really care.

Some people built HERE their reputations off the FREE snakes i have gievn them. Onez guy in particular comes to mind.

So I don't reccomnend giving free snakes with every shipment, because it will come back and bite you in the end.

Soeme people are just not right in the head.

Rainer, YOU have made me alot more interested in FL kings. Shoot, I had cash in hand ready to order some of your hybrids years back but alas others beat me to them. You produce outstanding animals, and I met you in Daytona, you are a nice guy. Coming from NA milks(just try and find ANYONE with them any more), I am a locality to a point. I like morphs too. But stradling that bridge is tough. We can have intelligent conversations without keeping the same species right?

Bluerosy Sep 14, 2009 05:21 PM

Yes none of this banter is personal. I still drool over those hypo Brooks x goini you have had.

Anyway , it has been an interesting thread.
