Feeding neonate lepidus

chrisdrake Sep 13, 2009 08:09 PM

I legally collected a baby mottled rock rattlesnake and wanted to get some advice on getting it to feed. Are baby leps pretty good about taking live pinks for their first meal or are they typically lizard feeders early? This is my first lepidus and want to make sure I get it feeding well. He/she is very small and still has the sulfur yellow tail. I would guess it is one of this years offspring. Thanks in advance.

I just had a Chinati locale lep produced here and it fed before it's first shed an f/t pinkie!

I usually have no problem with them feeding on pinks live or frozen. Stubborn ones will usually readily feed on lizards or lizard scented pinks.

I recently received 5 adult wild caught Davis Mtn leps and they ALL ate f/t adult mice first time offered.

I also got 4 more on breeding loan from a friend that was feeding live and ALL of them fed on f/t first time offered.

Well I feel alot better. My little lep has a nice pinky lump now. It ate a live pink with no scenting or anything with no problems.
