I've been breeding mealworms and crickets for a while and when I ran out of bran I used oatmeal in a pinch for grain. I went to a bug seminar at MARS the other day and Erin Mcclay of Ed's Fly Meat said that oatmeal naturally contains mites. She then told me how to get rid of them but I can't remember the name of the one product she suggested I think it started with an L. I will email her but if any of you know what it is or have your own soloution I'd really appreciate hearing it.

Don't know about all that but I do know chick starter or laying feed for adult chickens beats all I have ever used. You can get it at the local farm co-op or feed supply.
