Strange thing in enclosure today....

beardie4u Sep 14, 2009 04:00 PM

Found this when I went in to clean my dragon cages today and have never seen anything like it. Anyone ever seen this? What is it? Should I be worried? It is the color and consistency of a hard cooked egg yolk. Attached a pic so hoping it comes thru ok.

Was it part of the stool?

Not that I can tell. She did have a bowel movement today but it was on the other side of the enclosure and I found this underneath where she was basking on the floor under her grapevine. Very bizarre and hopefully nothing serious. Her bowel was fairly normal...a bit watery but then she had a good soak last night in the tub.

That looks like an egg to me when my Beardie lays dead eggs after awhile(like if I don't find them for awhile) they turn yellow like that and kind of hard

How big is it?

beardie4u Sep 14, 2009 11:18 PM

About the size of a beardie egg. Almost the egg shape too, but not quite.

it looks like an unshelled egg that has dried up. Probably be a good idea to set up a lay box for her, just in case she has more eggs inside. You don't want her to become eggbound with infertile eggs.

On another issue: Your signature image isn't showing due you missing a closing tag. Just add a forward slash ( / )on the second img tag and your image will show up on your posts.

That is indeed a dragon egg, poorly developed and infertile
