This little guy was found near Birmingham, AL. Hard to see his head, but I see little bug eyes - maybe a rat snake?

A definite Water snake(Nerodia ssp.)either a Midland Water Snake, or Northern Red-bellied. Can't see the belly though, but probably a Midland.

Great! thank you! My friend who sent the pic thought it also might be a water snake. He would have mentioned it if it had a red belly.
