A friend emailed me this picture of a snake found near Birmingham, AL. He thinks it may be some of rat snake. I have no idea.

Looks like a baby banded watersnake. (nerodia fasciata)

Forget the ratsnake thing, it's a Midland Water Snake(Nerodia sipedon ssp.) . I left you a post and pic of one on the "what is it" forum.

definitely a nerodia but I am leaning more towards nerodia sipedon
northern water snake or sub species
we have them here in the Southeast Tennessee, Northern Georgia, and Northeast Alabama area

No, its a watersnake, a Natracine snake.
