how hott can my heat tape be?

kurma Sep 16, 2003 08:10 PM

Ok today I got my Herp power proportional thermstat and two dual prob digital thermometer. Its all workign great have three cgaes (the females) stank on top of each other, the sensor is set on the top one. I figure the top would be the best one since that shoudl be the higgest temp(heat rises? well its been a few hours and thermomter at set right on the plastic containers having one paper towl over them the bottom one is 94 maybe is cause it traping heat? The other are 90 and 88 I'll have the get an additional thermometer for the male as he is in a tank about a fioot away from the other cages. The sweater boxes come with a little rack system just a plastic rack that the slide in an out off all the flew watts are tape to them, I really don't see ehy the bottom one is so warm, but thinkign that its maybe 925 ontop of the paper towels and 88 in the hide bix I'm I ok?
thanks

Yes, you have heat trapping going on, I believe. You did not say what your thermostat was set at or which enclosure had which temp other than the bottom.

Try putting the probe in the middle and see if that does not stabilize your temps some.
