Black Rat that won't shed? Really weird...

JohnKrist Sep 16, 2003 08:29 PM

A BRS that has eaten well and shed before has done something really strange. After exhibiting all the signs of needing to shed right down to clouding eyes, not eating, and soaking, it seems to have shed (eyes are clear) but I can't find the cast off skin anywhere in tank !?!? Snake is still soaking, but seems alert and reactive. Have not tried feeding. This is really odd, but snakes can't reverse the shedding process, right? Some lizards eat the shedding skin in stips, but a snake?

Any thoughts appreciated greatly.

Ok, the eyes will get cloudy. After they get cloudy the will get clear. After they are clear for a few days the snake will shed. The eyes always clear uop before a shed.
